Production Review

An independent assessment of your SRE, Platform Engineering and DevOps posture, delivered by senior practitioners who have built and operated platforms at scale. We document what we find, rank it by impact, and give you a prioritised roadmap you can act on.

External assessment · fixed price

2-week diagnostic

Interviews, review, analysis and delivery. A written report (20–40 pages) and a presentation to engineering leadership, ranked by impact.

Investment

fixed · 2 weeks

Week 1 — Discovery

  • 01 Interviews with engineering leadership, the platform team and the on-call team
  • 02 Incident history review and SLO coverage analysis
  • 03 Architecture review and topology mapping
  • 04 Toolchain and process audit
  • 05 Data gathering: runbooks, dashboards, deployment pipeline

Week 2 — Analysis & delivery

  • 01 Findings synthesis and severity ranking
  • 02 Prioritised recommendations with effort/impact mapping
  • 03 Written report (20–40 pages)
  • 04 Remote presentation to engineering leadership
  • 05 30-day post-delivery Q&A support window
Implementation not included Implementation is a separate engagement.
Method

What we review

Across two weeks we assess the areas that most often decide whether a platform scales reliably.

Reliability & SLOs

SLI/SLO coverage of critical user journeys, error budgets and alerting signal-to-noise.

Incident response

On-call structure, escalation, post-mortem practice and recurring failure patterns.

Architecture & topology

System boundaries, failure domains, single points of failure and scaling limits.

Delivery & CI/CD

Deployment pipeline, release safety, rollback paths and change frequency.

Observability

Metrics, logs and traces: coverage, cost and how usable they are during an incident.

Platform & tooling

Kubernetes, IaC and the internal developer platform: golden paths and operational toil.

Scope

What's included and what isn't

The engagement is deliberately fixed in scope, so you know exactly what you get.

Included
  • Interviews with leadership, platform and on-call teams
  • Incident, SLO, architecture, toolchain and process review
  • Written report (20–40 pages) with severity-ranked findings
  • Prioritised roadmap with effort/impact mapping
  • Remote presentation to engineering leadership
  • 30-day post-delivery Q&A window
Not included
  • Implementation of the recommendations (a separate engagement)
  • Production write access or changes to your systems
  • 24/7 on-call or operational responsibility
  • Tooling procurement or vendor selection
Fit

Who this is for

The Production Review is built for scale-ups whose platform has grown faster than the team's ability to step back and assess it.

A good fit
  • 10–100 engineers running in production on cloud infrastructure
  • Growing incident load, on-call fatigue, or slowing delivery
  • Kubernetes and cloud-native tooling already in place
  • No recent independent review of reliability or platform practices
  • Leadership that wants a prioritised plan, not just opinions
Not the right time
  • Pre-product, or fewer than ~10 engineers
  • You need hands-on implementation rather than an assessment
  • You already have a clear, agreed reliability roadmap
Add-on

Ongoing Advisory

After a Production Review, some clients engage us on a continuing basis for fractional technical leadership: architecture guidance, structured code review and incident post-mortem facilitation. We stay close enough to the codebase and the team to give opinions that matter.

About

We operate from Barcelona, serving scale-ups across Spain and Europe. Over a decade of platform and reliability work at pan-European scale informs everything we assess.

srereview is led by Diego Delgado, an SRE & Platform Engineer whose background is in internal developer platforms at pan-European retail scale, the kind of environment where infrastructure decisions carry real operational weight.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How much does the Production Review cost?
A fixed price of €8,000 for the full two-week engagement: all interviews, the written report (20–40 pages) and the remote leadership presentation.
How long does it take?
Two weeks of focused work: one week of discovery and one of analysis and delivery, scheduled around your release calendar.
How much access do you need to our systems?
Read-only context is enough: interviews, documentation, dashboards and incident history. We do not require production write access or make changes to your systems.
Do you implement the recommendations?
No. The Production Review is a diagnostic. Implementation is a separate engagement we can scope afterwards if useful.
Do you work with companies outside Spain?
Yes. We are based in Barcelona and work with scale-ups across Europe. Engagements are delivered remotely.
What is the difference between the Production Review and Ongoing Advisory?
The Production Review is a fixed-scope, two-week assessment. Ongoing Advisory is continuing fractional support available afterwards, on a retainer or hourly basis.
